“Tell Me With Whom You Walk And
I Will Tell You Who You Are”

January 21, 2015

The youth of my generation grew up under the teaching of this proverb.
The lesson was, “choose your friends carefully and do not walk with sinners.”
The kind of people we associated will eventually determine our identity.
Parents did not trust in the education at home and prepared to blame others.
While the greatest influence one receives is not from friends but from parents.

God forbid that you came to be known as a friend of sinners and publicans.
We forget that Jesus said to be the salt of the Earth and the light of the world.
We noticed that it only takes one bad apple in the basket to spoil all the rest.
Many good apples surrounding one bad apple will not make the bad apple good.
Thanks to God the Father that he did not teach to his Son Jesus this proverb.

God so loved the sinner that he sent his only son to befriend and save them.
Jesus was the only good apple in a world full of dead and decaying bad apples.
He came to be known as friend of sinners, prostitutes and the demon possessed.
As a white flower in a swamp Jesus lived a perfect life free from transgression.
No matter how small a light may be, it’s destined to prevail in the darkness.

No matter how dense evil may be, it will never prevail around the believer.
We are call to be light with one foot on holy ground and the other in the world.
It will not be our courage or determinations that will lead us unto victory.
It will be the nature of the healthy apple our lord Jesus dwelling within us.
It is not in my prayers or my faith that I rest upon but in Jesus the friend of sinners.

We do not forget that “Friendship with the world is enmity with God.”
As ambassadors in foreign countries, we are their friends God’s terms.
Jesus was not of this world just as much as those of Jesus are not of this world.
In order to conquer our love Jesus gave us all but his supreme gift was himself.
Love is love when we love others as self as poured out wine and broken bread.

No one can fake love because it is not an act but a nature to be shown and tell.
No one can hide hate because is self-evident as darkness is lack of light.
Love people because they are people and not in order to make them believers.
The pig knows that you love him because of the bacon and not for being a pig.
Walk close only to Jesus and I will know it and I will tell you who you are.

A man without options thinking thoughts after God in the “Doghouse” of
God’s sovereign choice, still praying like a scratched record: “Ready for either”
